Access to this place is via some fairly narrow lanes. Definitely follow the National Trust signs and not the sat nav as you get closer. I Started the walk at the National Trust car park. Free for members, £5 or something otherwise. You can pick up the trail through the picnic area next to the pub or cross the bridge and take the path along the river from that side. You then just follow the river down to the sea. There are various small bridges to take alternative routes. The tree line obscures the river at various points until you reach closer to the sea. I found it easier to access the beach via the path on the left of the river as you walk towards the sea. There is a small old kiln at the river mouth to briefly explore. I walked back to the car via the opposite river bank. Along this way you can see a few more bridges and some small streams flowing down into the river. I also saw a large stag grazing near the picnic area. An excellent walk despite the gloomy weather. It was late afternoon when I arrived at the car park so I did not have much time to spend here. It took around 1 hour to reach the sea and back. The car park was not locked when I finally left about 5-6pm.

A truly beautiful place to visit via various routes. We took the comfortable stroll which is a mile. We were lucky enough to see a seal less than 100 ft from the pebbled beach too. Highly recommend 🙂

Lovely walk down by the river to the secluded beach, scenery was amazing. The walk back up to the car park was a bit harder as went the wrong way, signposting could be slightly better, but a lovely lady on a quad bike set us back on track (if she ever reads this thank you as we would still be lost now lol)

Lovely walk in heddon valley to the beach. Easy walk. Great leaflet with the route and description available. There are harder longer walks but the short walk to the beach is great with young kids. Came back to the shop and had a lovely coffee and ice cream. The national trust shop/café is taking part in reusable travel cup scheme which is great to see and take part in.

Good trail path to explore Heddon Valley, Heddon's mouth and beyond. Suitable for dogs with some shade down to the beach along the river making it a good route on a warm day. Beach is very pebbly with movement underfoot however there is a viewing point too. Toilets and small café at the National Trust building with some activities for children in it. The Hunters Inn pub on the corner too (however we didn't use it)

Stunning views. Beautiful walk about a mile to the beach from Hunter's Inn. Not too bad for young children and pushchairs. The NT have completed lots of safety work especially since the bad storms. The rangers are very friendly and eager to help with enquiries.

Went on easter Sunday with our 3 kids to do the easter trail and they really enjoyed themselves. It's a really beautiful place to go and the kids loved the beach, even though it's all rocks..they loved throwing them Into the sea. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have the national trust pass.

Beautiful walk across the river to see where it meets the sea with stunning views to he beach, the hills and the sea. There is a tramper for those with disabilities and a circular path for them. There is also a shop to buy something to eat and drink at the beginning.
